Native Health Report

Booklet

The Central Interior Native Health Society engaged in an exercise to explore cultural practices within a primary health care setting. The report needed to be both a record of what occurred and a fundraising tool.

During the exercise, participants would sit in a circle and pass a stone from speaker to speaker, a theme that was carried into the design of the report.

Booklet

The square format of the booklet was a reference to the circle - another 'perfect' shape - and was meant to convey balance and harmony. Photographs of stones were used throughout to symbolize not only the 'speaking stone' and the stones in the medicine wheel, but also the connection with history and tradition.
