Wine Labels for Wineworks

When it comes to kit wine, labelling is always a challenge; many labels are difficult to remove and leave a gummy residue. Kit suppliers provide basic labels, but these are often visually unappealing, are non-recyclable and reinforce the kit’s branding rather than the wine shop’s.

I worked with Jon and Frances at Cook St. Village Wineworks to create a new approach to labelling; something that would allow them to proudly display their wines on their customers’ tables in an attractive and simple way, without adding complexity to the actual bottling process.

These Wineworks-branded labels are easy to apply and remove, are recyclable & made from 100% recycled paper and can be quickly customized in-shop. Info, such as variety, bottling date and optimal enjoyment date augment the fun & friendly pre-printed messaging.

Check them out if you find yourself in Cook St. Village!

2012 Coastal Naturalist Program

Each summer, BC Ferries and Parks Canada run a fantastic program onboard BC Ferries’ main routes. During the sailings, naturalists give presentations on the beautiful and diverse Gulf Islands National Park Reserve ecosystem that you’re sailing through.

I’ve worked on this program for 4 years and public feedback is always overwhelmingly positive with both visitors and locals reporting both increased conservation-oriented mindset and behavioural changes as a result of participating in the program. I’m very proud to be a part of it.

This year’s materials were especially fun to design. I worked with local illustrator Ian Finlayson to create the octopus interacting with the Naturalist. I did the photography, completely converting my dining room into a photo studio, complete with lights and a gigantic white backdrop.

Look for the colourful materials next time you’re on the ferry!

New Work: Event Posters/Rack Cards for Royal Oak Burial Park

I had the great pleasure of working with Paula Jardine and Royal Oak Burial Park earlier this spring on a series of event posters and rack cards promoting various events at the Park. I collaborated with Ian Finlayson to create the beautiful illustrations which really brought the designs to life. The events were very well attended and the venues & businesses displaying the posters were all more than happy to have them up in their windows (many asked for extras). I’m looking forward to carrying on the series with next year’s events.

You can view more images in the portfolio section.

New work: 2011 Glass Ornament for BC Ferries

2011 Jolda Promo

This year’s hand-blown Ted Jolda ornament promotion for BC Ferries will be onboard in just a few days. For the past three years, I’ve worked with Ferries to create an arresting series of materials that showcases the beauty of the ornaments in their onboard retail stores. Each year has been a great success, with the ornaments selling out early.

This year’s may be my favourite with its rich purple and green colours – check it out in Passages Gift Shop while onboard. You can also view the work from past years’ promotions in my portfolio.
