I pride myself on providing clients with attentive and personal service, delivering excellent value for their marketing dollars and helping their businesses succeed. But don’t take my word for it; read what my clients have to say:

Desirée Sher, Executive Director,
B.C. Neurofibromatosis Foundation

“Working with Oculus Design has been a terrific experience! Matt was able to take our ideas and design a site beyond our expectations. We enjoyed working with Matt so much we hired him again to redesign our newsletter. A talented designer who provides exceptional service. What more could you want?”

Michael Barton, Creative Director,
MBS Video Productions

“Choosing Oculus has been one of the best and most beneficial decisions I have made as a business owner. Matt has helped create MBS Video Productions a brand that stands out from our competition. Our logo is creative, simple and gets the point of what we do across to our prospects and clients. His design & expertise has taken us from the “hobbyist” look to the high-end videography company we want to be seen as. The knowledge he brings to the table about paper stock, printing and general design is amazing. Not only does Matt create fantastic branding and recognition… he actually shows you how to use it effectively!! Oculus Design + Marketing has taken my business to the next level. Thank you.”

Katherine Lefebvre, Asst. Manager, Creative Services,
British Columbia Ferry Services Inc.

“Matt Politano of Oculus Design + Marketing is exceptionally personable to work with. He is creative yet practical at the same time – a rare combination. He has produced several marketing brochures and carried out several ad campaigns for BC Ferries all the while keeping within time and budget. I am pleased with the work Matt has done for BC Ferries and look forward to working on many future projects together.”

Rob Bennett,
Founder, Municipal Software Corporation

“Matt is a consummate professional in whatever role he plays. As President and CEO I was constantly impressed by Matt’s work as our Creative Director and Marketing Team Lead. His ability to look at life from different perspectives is unparalleled in my experience, and contributed to all sorts of interesting, humorous and effective marketing events and collateral. I would unequivocally recommend Matt for any creative endeavor. He is a great guy to have on a team, and ensures that delivery time lines are met with quality deliverables. He made a real difference to Municipal Software, and I enjoyed my time with him immensely.”

Chris Jones MBA FCMC,
FORUM Consulting

“I hired Matt’s firm (Oculus) to design and develop a web site for FORUM Consulting Group Ltd, largely because I was impressed by his own site. Matt did a terrific job, on time and on budget and he developed exactly the look and feel I was looking for.”

Kirsty Armstrong,
Visual Communications Coordinator, Royal Roads University

“Matt is not only talented but also very reliable and passionate about his role as a designer. His fun and pleasant nature is great in a team dynamic when collaborating on projects. He is approachable and also very detail-oriented which is a rare quality in the creative field. Matt always completes his projects on time and on budget. I would happily recommend Matt as a communications professional.”

Heather Goodman,
Sunworks Consulting

“Matt is a great listener and communicator – focused on client’s needs and how best to achieve, keeping client well informed. Matt’s creativity expands beyond design into all elements of production.”

Michael Flynn
Prime Source Lease Group

“Matt’s talent is obvious. Moreover, he displays over the top attention to detail combined with a commitment to complete the contract on time!”

I am a Certified Graphic Designer. Certified by who/what, you may ask? The Society of Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC). The GDC is the national organization that sets standards for professional practice in the field of graphic design in Canada. From the GDC website:

The Society has been an advocate, voice and resource for Canada’s graphic design profession since 1956. The GDC maintains a national certified body of graphic designers and promotes high standards of graphic design and ethical business practices, for the benefit of Canadian industry, commerce, public service and education.

To gain certification, I had to pass a portfolio review and sign a professional code of ethics and business practice.

Why does this matter to your business? Because you need to know that your designer is a professional that takes his/her business just as seriously as you take yours. With Oculus Design + Marketing, your business is in good hands.

Matt Politano, CGD, Principal

I grew up around printing presses and paper so it’s sort of in my blood. I received my degree in education and after a stint teaching visual art and then software applications, I began freelancing as a designer at the turn of the century. Following a number of years working in the marketing department of Municipal Software in Victoria BC, the last year of which as Creative Director and Marketing Team Lead, I held a number of in-house design positions. I worked for Royal Roads University, Hot House Marketing and the BC Provincial Government.

On April 1, 2007, I opened Oculus Design + Marketing and continue to work with his existing clients and former employers. I maintain relationships with other professionals such as writers, photographers, public relations specialists and developers. This allows me to bring together a ‘superteam’ of professionals for any project. I can pick the best people for a project without the overhead of having them on staff every day. In this way, I can compete on quality with the agencies without the bureaucracy (or higher rates). Oculus is currently open to new clients, so if you’re looking for personalized service and design expertise that helps your business succeed and grow, please contact me.

Attributed to IBM’s Thomas Watson in the 1950′s, ”Good design is good business” still rings just as true today. Why? Because perceptions have always been an extremely important part of doing business. How prospects and customers perceive your brand, your business, is critical to your success.

But it’s not enough to look pretty; we are all sophisticated consumers and we’ve all seen how superficial pretty can be. There needs to be substance as well as aesthetics. You need to communicate well with your audience and this is where design comes in.

Oculus Design + Marketing will not only make you look good, we’ll communicate your business’ values, your professionalism. We can help you reach your target audience and form a relationship with them. Drop us a line and ask what we can do for your business.
